The School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh leads the field in fundamental biological research and innovative, multi-disciplinary science. The University of Edinburgh was involved with the development of this course, which is based on the module “Principles of Genetic Improvement” from their MSc in Quantitative Genetics and Genome Analysis.

Scottish Agricultural College

SAC (Scottish Agricultural College) is Scotland's HE institute for land-based education and is an innovative, knowledge-based organisation, supporting the development of land-based industries and communities. With a mission “to enhance the sustainability of our land-based industries”, SAC provided much of the content for the course and was a key player in the design, development and production.

Roslin Institute

The Roslin Institute and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (University of Edinburgh), one of the world’s leading centres for studies relating to animal genetics and development, with a distinctive strength in the genetics and genomics of farm animal species, made a significant contribution to this course.

In addition, the Biosciences Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) facilitated the construction, and managed the completion of the project. KTN works to improve the co-ordination of the use of genetic and genomic technologies by the livestock breeding and animal health industries.
