The course is made up of an introductory module and five specialised modules. Each module contains a number of sections and most of the sections are subdivided into topics. The topics (and the sections that are subdivided) contain the actual material in a series of pages, with audio, text, graphics and interactions.
The CD-ROM is easy to navigate and can be used by someone with minimal computer skills. The user has the option to view the text in full or switch to bullet pointed notes. A print button allows the user to print the notes in bullet point form for their own reference. Web links to useful websites are available where the user will be able to find additional information. The tracking tool allows the user to work through the course in a logical order, clearly identifying areas that are finished or incomplete.
On successfully completing the PGI course, registered users may apply for an SAC certificate.
